In this paper, an attempt has been made to investigate the pattern of authorship, type of collaborated research and the degree of collaboration in the field of Social Sciences. The data was collected from social science citation index of ISI Thomson Reuters, for the period of twelve years i.e. 2000-2011. Author publications have been divided into three block periods 2000-2003, 2004-2007, and 2008-2011. The Collaborative Index (CI) and Degree of Collaboration (DC) and Collaboration Coefficient (CC) have been calculated. These are increasing from one block to another indicating a progressive trend in collaborative research.Keywords

In the present study the growth of world Social Science literature in the six sub disciplines viz., Anthropology, Economics, History, Psychology, Political Science and Sociology were derived from the CD-Rom version of the Wilson Social Science Abstracts for the period 1983-1998. Determines the rate of growth of the Social Science literature by calculating relative growth rates and doubling time for publications. Fits both modified exponential curve and logistic curve for the original publications. Study the criteria on which growth models are to be selected for their possible application in the six sub disciplines of Social Sciences.Keywords

In the present paper an attempt has been made to compare the Ranganathan's first law of library science and Newton's first law of motion. The book will be on the library stack; will not move unless somebody pushes it. Library staff must take certain measure to reach the book in to the hands of the readers (it may be book, document and information). The librarian who would like to flourish his career and to be a successful librarian must keep the first law of Library Science in his mind. And the librarian who wants to maintain his library service-fully must have to apply these laws in his/her library. These laws may be considered as the main motto of library science. Measurement is an integral part of modern science. This paper proposed a comprehensive statistical overview of the terms librametrics, bibliometrics, scientometrics, informetrics, webometrics and knowledgometrics refer to fields related to the study of the dynamics of disciplines as reflected in the production of their literature. These terms are used to describe similar and overlapping methodologies. The origins, historical survey, scope, application and development of each of these terms are presented in this study. Several method and principles of metrics studies have been discussed. Finally paper concluded that the main research areas of each stage concentrated on the major topic like citation analysis has been a core research area during every stage; research interest has shifted from theoretical research to applied aspect; visualization methods and scientific mapping have attracted more and more attention and will become a main research area of scientometrics. The inclusion of webometrics expands the field of bibliometrics, as webometrics inevitably will contribute to further methodological developments of web-specific approaches and knowledgometrics adds new concept to the field.Keywords

He was editor of two reputed journals of Library Science-Timeless Fellowship and Journal of Library Development. Determines the rate of growth of marine engineering literature by calculating relative growth rates and doubling time for publications.
